At Top Dose Roasters, we live and breathe exceptional coffee. Founded by two dedicated coffee professionals in the heart of Johannesburg, we are more than a roastery – we are a community built by baristas, for baristas (and every coffee lover in between).

Our Story
Top Dose Roasters began during the toughest days of the Covid-19 pandemic. When our previous employer entered business rescue, barista Neo Mkhethoni and roaster Japhet Matimbe refused to let their passion fade. Instead, they turned challenge into opportunity and launched Topdose (Pty) Ltd – a roastery that puts excellence first and never bends the rules on coffee quality.
Today, from our Houghton Estate base, we roast daily, source ethically, and share everything we know so South Africa’s coffee scene can keep growing.

Neo Mkhethoni – Founder & Head Barista
A self-confessed coffee junkie and customer-service obsessive, Neo lives for that perfect extraction and the smile it puts on your face. His entrepreneurial drive keeps Top Dose focused on outstanding experiences, every single time.
Japhet Matimbe – Head Roaster
Raised on his family’s coffee farm in Zimbabwe, Japhet understands coffee from soil to cup. His roasting expertise brings out the brightest, cleanest flavours in every bean we source.
